In 2008 Streeton will be home to a new Discovery Centre. The centre will be used by the Junior School (Preps, Grade ones and Grade twos). The centre allows students to learn through an inquiry based curriculum. An inquiry based curriculum allows children to be actively involved in their learning, and to revisit and redevelop their understandings as they experience more. The children will be encouraged to investigate, and explore ideas to seek further knowledge. The Discovery Centre integrates a variety of curriculum areas, such as visual arts, performance arts, role plays, science, writing, problem solving, maths, speaking and listening, reading, and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

The opening of the Discovery Centre was lots of fun. The students made masks and decorated fish. We played games such as Octopus, Spaghetti Marinara (Fruit Salad), sea creature statues, and read a great book. Each Prep and 1/2 grade now visits the Discovery Centre twice a week.
